270 Tileable Web Backgrounds

Today’s web treat is a huge pack of 270 seamless web backgrounds, designed specifically to match the 18 matte variations of our new wordpress theme Awake. These are subtler than our standard patterns and optimized for web at lower resolutions.

Not all backgrounds are shown in image previews. You can click on the demo links to see all backgrounds live.
You can download the free set of 270 seamlessly tileable web backgrounds at the bottom of the post.

How to Install?

For your convenience, the download comes with 270 css files, corresponding to each background image, in a folder called css.
If you want to use the “Hot Pink Space Background” for example, the code you would need to add to your website’s css is in the file _hot_pink_space.css
The contents of the file will look something like the following:
/* If you're using this as an alternate background for our Awake Wordpress Theme, simply upload the included folder "_alt" into your "style" directory, and then add the following line at the bottom of your color scheme stylesheet. */ body{background:url(_alt/hot_pink/space_background2.jpg) repeat-x fixed center top #1E0316;}

  We’re working on the variations now, and are very much open to suggestion. Could you be a little more specific, though. Do you mean something like this: http://themes.mysitemyway.com/awake/?themedemo=awake&extracss=classic_white_lights but in a color more similar to translucence?

Really stunning work here .. and so useful. These are backgrounds that can actually be implemented into a site design. Some backgrounds on the web are beautiful but not practical for the average business client site.

  Hi Alan,
  Unzip the download and then follow these three steps.
  1) Upload the included “_alt” folder into your “themes/awake/style/” directory.
  2) Open the included “css” folder and find the appropriate style sheet.
  - For example, If you want to use the hot pink space background, copy the code within the file _hot_pink_space.css.
  3) Paste the code at the bottom of your color-scheme’s stylesheet.
  - For example if you are using the hot pink skin, paste it at the bottom of the file themes/awake/styles/hot_pink.css

Just one huge THANK YOU – for such an exceptional arsenal of work. I had purchased the inFocus theme from a friend, his company wound up not using it in the end.
I think I will also go and purchase the Awake Theme – it’s just to beautiful to pass up. And it is “timeless” – perfect for me to use when the right project comes along.
I create artwork since 1993 for all my websites – and have to tell you – it is rare to find someone that is so generous and allow others to use your work for free.
